I had no idea at the time...
It was a Wednesday afternoon in 2023 at Sayulita sitting with one of my biz besties, friends and the co-founder of WIB, Jules. The spicy margs were flowing, the queso was divine and we were discussing how disappointed we were that an event we were both supposed to speak at was canceled. The topic we were speaking on was mental health & social media. Two things that (if you know either of us) are insanely important to us, as well as our brands. The event was canceled to lack of ticket sales but we knew we wanted to get this information into the hands of women who were likely feeling the same way we were. We decided "why not us? we can totally pull off an event." and with a clink of margaritas- women in business ct was born.
that we would sell this event out in just 24 hours. Women across the state were truly craving community, and a safe space to share their thoughts, feelings and opinions. We wanted every woman at every event to feel safe, seen and heard. From the very first cocktails and conversations event that was hosted in June of 2023, Women in Business CT has grown a community of over 2,200 women online, a membership of 40+ women and has served, donated and volunteered their time to organizations all over CT. Not only do we enjoy the best things in life together- we give back to make an impact that will only have a ripple effect of good to women all over the state. Women in Business CT is an all-inclusive, equitable LGBTQIA+ supporting organization where all women will always be welcome.
Pam Contreras
Pam creates purposeful, high-impact events that truly connect, empower, and inspire women at every stage of business. Her journey is anything but traditional—and that’s exactly what makes her such a powerful addition to our team. A Navy veteran, Pam served for six years before transitioning into motherhood and earning her degree in Sonography, where she spent a decade as an Ultrasound Tech—all while building her beauty business on the side.
What started behind a makeup counter has grown into a thriving beauty brand. Today, Pam leads a team of 30+ artists, helping brides feel confident and radiant every step of the way. Her work has always been rooted in connection, creativity, and lifting other women up.
Now, she’s expanding into a new chapter—transforming her studio into a wellness space centered on healing and self-discovery. As a certified Reiki Master, she creates safe, nurturing environments for clients to reset and recharge.
As our Coordinator, Pam will be leading the charge in curating meaningful experiences that go beyond surface-level networking—bringing real conversations, real community, and real support to life.
the dream team
Allie Dorman
Raised by a blue-collar, small business fam, Allie is the definition of heart meets hustle. With deep roots in perseverance, integrity, and community, she's bringing her financial smarts and her spark to Women in Business CT as the head of investments and business strategy.
Not just your average tax pro, Allie Blair is a wealth of knowledge (yes, the pun is always intended). She’s on a mission to make business finances feel less intimidating and way more empowering. With her background in financial strategy and her love for supporting entrepreneurs, she helps women actually understand their numbers, not just file them. Allie shows up with clear, practical guidance and breaks things down so business owners can lead like true CEOs, not just keep up. She's the kind of pro who reminds you that your numbers aren't scary — they’re power tools for growth.
But what really sets Allie apart? Her vibe. She’s light-hearted, funny, and genuinely empowering to every woman she meets. the kind of woman who makes spreadsheets feel like a celebration. She knows that behind every business is a dream, and she brings her heart to the table just as much as her brain. We’re so lucky to have her as the head of investments for Women in Business CT, and we know you’ll feel that magic too.
